I got bigger and bigger, and more and more people started asking me if I was having twins. Eventually I put on a LOT of baby weight. Here's a couple pictures before the last month or so (I didn't allow pictures then). The first is from May and the second the end of July.

Finally, my due date approached - Sep 4 - the day before Labor Day. I started my maternity leave from work 2 weeks before that date, wanting to have time to prepare and rest. I anticipated having him and then being able to celebrate Labor Day and Pete's birthday later that week. Well, the stake Labor Day picnic came and went. Pete's birthday came and went. I started wondering what this baby was waiting for. He seemed perfectly content to just stay in me forever. He was still fairly high when we would visit the doctor, though, so we didn't want to induce earlier than 2 weeks in order to give him a chance to drop. Well, on Sunday night, Sep 18, the 2 weeks were up and he still wasn't coming. So, we went into the hospital to be induced that night at 7:30 PM.
By noon the next day, I was having strong contractions but he still hadn't made much progress. So, I decided that I had suffered enough pain in my life and got an epidural. I have to say - I am not a fan of drugs but I can see how people are! The contractions were monitored and strong enough to be pushing him down, continuing until 6 PM. At that point the doctor told us he still hadn't really dropped, so the chances of continuing successfully without needing a c-section were low. She said it was likely that his size, my size or something was preventing him from dropping correctly. So, we decided to do the c-section then, at 6 PM. By 6:45 I was in the OR and Blake was born at 7:05 PM. All I remember is the nurses saying "He is a BIG boy!" while the doctors put me back together.
Blake weighed in at 9 lbs 15.6 oz and 22 inches long. I still can't believe I was carrying something that big around. Of course, I do have the physical evidence to prove it now!! :) Here are some of the early photos
Since then . . . well, life has changed!! I've gotten better at doing things with one hand, like typing this entry. And I've slowly gotten over being tired all the time. Blake is even doing 6 hours pretty regularly at night! He loves to sit up and stand up even more. He also loves to smile and laugh. Usually, I go to get him out of his crib to find him just smiling and laughing at me - even at 3 AM!
He's still growing, too. At his 2 month checkup yesterday, he weighed in at 13 lbs 13 oz and measured 24.5 inches long - in the 90th and 93rd percentiles for his age!
Even with all this, I know the adventures with our little boy and our family are just starting. I'm excited to see what's going to come next . . . .
Here are a few of my favorites from the last 2 months, along with a video from yesterday:
Weeks 1-3
Weeks 4-6
Weeks 7-9
