Christmas Letter

Here's my Christmas letter! I truly hope that everyone has a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year wherever they are! A single letter can never capture everything that has happened over the course of a year, and I hope everyone knows how much I love them and that I would not be the same person without them in my life!

A few other things from this year not mentioned in the letter:

  • Tennis pro! I have played lots more tennis this year and am now considering turning pro . . . ok ok, so I still am not consistent in not hitting line drives through the court rather than topspin to keep it in the court. But, hey, I have 3 rackets now and none of them damp the power down enough! But I have gotten a more consistent serve and have come dangerously close to winning some sets and matches! That last game is so elusive - somehow it all disappears after I'm up 5-2 in the set!
  • Patience! Somehow (not really sure how) I have learned patience and being ok with not having a timeline or plan for everything. It still amazes me as I don't recall doing anything specifically to learn patience. Although it has been a theme of the "why" things happen for me over the past 8 years. Maybe I've finally learned some? I do think the emotional crisis at 30 helped resolve some of the need for a definitive plan.
  • Be happy! I can't really describe in words this feeling - just that there is so much that I am blessed with and people in my life that make me smile. "Men are that they might have joy" means more and more as I realize that not only are we meant to have joy here, but that it is the inevitable consequence of living and loving through the gospel.
I hope all of you feel the happiness and joy of the gospel of Jesus Christ and of this season. Know how much you all mean to me!

Dear Rachel,
For those of us who live far away and are out of the loop, I think you should update this with the story of your dating/engagement. It would make stalking you much easier. :) Hope all is well!
